Choose from 3 vacation rental log cabins and 1 historical cottage around Boone, North Carolina. Some of the most affordable rental cabins located within the Blue Ridge Mountains. Just a few miles from ASU as well as the Blue Ridge Parkway. The view from Darrell’s Den is on the banner of this web site while the other 3 cabins are nestled in the woods in scenic landscapes. All of my cabins are privately owned and maintained.
Back in 1978 when I left my hometown of Lancaster, Ohio seeking employment and adventure I landed
in Miami, Florida where I stayed and worked for the next 20 years. During that time I made numerous
trips by car back home to see mom and It was on these trips that I fell in love with the mountains. I
must have made a vow to live here someday because I finally made the move in 1996 and have not
regretted it at all. The mountains have a draw for some of us, not to mention the cooler air is really nice
in the summer when the rest of the country has triple digit temperatures.
Five years ago I met a man named Darrell, right after swearing off dating for the rest of my life, and he
was so sweet that I accepted his proposal almost three years ago. It turns out he is a talented carpenter
and has been able to build one cabin and remodel another old fixer-upper which showcases his skill.
Darrell is from the south as you will figure out if you get a chance to talk to him. He moved here to work
a construction job at the college from Richlands, Virginia about the same time I did, but our paths did
not cross for 11 years.
We stumbled into this vacation rental business and we make a good team. With Darrell’s carpentry and
handyman skills and my business experience we can take care of almost everything ourselves so we are
able to offer more affordable rates. The most successful businesses, have offered a great product for a
reasonable price and that is the business plan we are trying to follow. Our cabins all have Wi-Fi, cable
TV, A/C, fireplaces, grills, ceiling fans, fully equipped kitchens, and we provide all sheets and towels, and
some toiletries. They are clean, safe, and well maintained and in great locations for all of the activities
in and around Boone. In our travels we have learned that it is best to stay in a central location like our
cabins. Even though the rural properties are equally beautiful be aware that 20-30 country miles on
curvy mountain roads may mean up to an hour travel time. Save your time and gas money by staying
with us. Two of our cabins are in Boone, 3 minutes from Appalachian State and the other two are five
miles south of Boone and only 1/10th mile off of Hwy 105 in between Boone and Grandfather Mountain
and the ski slopes. We strive to make sure our guests have everything they need and have a good time.
